They may feel a close tie to their locally originated hate group(yah know Nazis since Hitler was Austrian). May be the way to fly under locals radar.
Sooo it’s not the Norwegian flag? I bet the owner has been on holidays recently! 🙂
He wants to state to be a racist gun nut with deep love for rednecks.
And he can’t fly a swastika here for legal reasons, so this is kind of a replacement.
Know this guy. I think they dont know what it means. They are in a country and western club
where ist this? ~~i wonder if they have an entry in google maps.~~

E: sorry i thought this was at a dealership

Warum soll er nicht wissen was sie bedeutet?!
I am pretty sure the owner knows….
There’s a guy in my Upper Austrian hometown who was flying a confederate flag in his garden. Recently, he took it down and I was relieved that he decided it was a bit too much. However, the next day he proudly put up a Russian flag. I think this guy knows exactly what kind of flags he’s displaying ….
To be fair there are genuinely people in German speaking countries who use that flag without any negative opinions. People who got their midlife crisis in the 90s-2000s mostly. For some reason, the “american biker culture” – y’know, strong engines, freedom, being though, and so on, often was marketed with that flag.
However, it is also entirety possible that it’s a racist POS, who uses that flag because the swastika is banned.
Yeah it’s a rare sight. I remember seeing some neonazi shitstain in McDonald’s that one time (I’m in Austria almost every month and that dude was only obviouslly nazi dude I’ve seen). They were doing some party for the kids and seeing this idiot turning red on sight of colored children cheering was such a pleasure.
Well the flag he would rather put there would get him in legal trouble I assume
Yes they know what it stands for. Especially if flown on a Hyundai. If it were on a 60s muscle car this, in most cases, is a completely different kind of thing.
They fly the confederate flag because they can’t fly the third Reich’s flag with the hakenkreuz
Probably not. But now with the internet you can’t be sure anymore.

Here in Lower Austria there was a „western-party“ recently. There was a several meters large confederate flag hanging over us. I could not believe my eyes.
I hope they have no idea.
Not that rare of a sight tbh. You can spot one here and there at ‘American’-ish restaurants, car dealerships, Dixie bars and even amusement parks. Pretty sure the connotations of that flag are lost on most of those people, they simply see it as an expression of ‘rebelion’.
On a side note, aren’t Austrian regulations super strict on stuff like having flags on your car and whatnot?
I was going to say “maybe he’s American” – but I guess your question would still be valid.
Burn it before it lays eggs!!!
They do, they are flown by members of the extremists right wingers in Austria.
Small car for a redneck
Break his window and find out.
For them the flag might mean something different than it does to you.
The confederate flag is kinda on the same level as “Che Guevara”-shirts where the actual meaning and the reason people wear/show it might be very different. Maybe because they don’t know any better, maybe because the symbol means something different to them.
Meanings of symbols get changed all the time.
Pretty sure he knows. It’s Austria and we go to school..
There is a flat on Krottenbachstraße that has 2 on their balcony and a US flag with an eagle on it.
I guess it’s the closest to a Nazi flag you can legally fly here.
Key their car, don’t need any people advocating for slavery here.
