Healthcare Abroad, widely advertised by Irish media today incl RTE, is owned by Spain-based Chris Goodey who was arrested by Gardai last mth on suspicion of widescale fraud at the NAGP union. Reviews on the website appear fake. The company was formed 3 mths ago

  1. The same Chris Goodey that worked for the now defunct NAGP, now under investigation by the corporate enforcement authority!

The same NAGP that Matiu O’Tuthaill worked for! The doctor that received the leaked contract agreement from Leo Varadkar!

The same Matiu O’Tuthaill who has been commissioned by RTE to procude a documentary on pandemics!

The same RTE advertising healthcare abroad!

There is something very, very wrong with this country.

I added a bit more in the politics subreddit:

  2. Was this that bit on the radio today that they got the least informed person ever on to speak against the company (some SD TD) and basically gave the lad from the company free reign to extol how great his company was (just to be clear, it sounded very dodgy)? Or was it another piece?

  3. The woman who was on newstalk had a lot of good things to say about them. I don’t know if that counts for anything.

A bit of me says that it’s only natural that in a small country like Ireland, high profile specialists will know other high profile specialists so the whole 6 degrees of separation isn’t as relevant here and it’s a lot closer

I’m confused tbh, how should I feel? What should I think?

  4. When I read the headline I thought it was in reference to that Spanish hospital that was opened yesterday to tackle Irish waiting lists. It isn’t though… or is it?

I had a look on that company’s website and it looks more like a facilitator or travel agent matching patients with lots of medical facilities in Spain (they list over 50 on their website).

Do they have any link to that new hospital?

  5. If they’re only 3 months old, then this [testimonial](https://i.imgur.com/WhWPjCL.png) from someone claiming that they received care in November 2020 is pretty blatant (also I’m pretty sure Offaly isn’t a real county).

Another testimonial has two mobile numbers that you can contact to verify, which is just mental.

  6. That’s ridiculous. Nobody would announce such a deal with a jailbird 2 days after he got lifted. Nobody is that stupid. Are they?
