I had no idea stuff like this happened in our country
Something i read from the US.
“Theres no such thing as a choice between legal and illegal abortions, only safe or dangerous ones.”
>“Because healthcare colleagues were suspicious, and knew she had been in touch with us, an abortion provider, as she told them, they suspected her of having an illegal abortion and called the police. But she wasn’t over the limit for a legal abortion.
>“The police arrested her in hospital. She stayed the night in hospital and then was discharged the following morning straight into police custody. It took them 36 hours to process her.”
Shame on whoever it was at the hospital who decided to call the police to arrest her instead of waiting to verify that it was a natural stillbirth.
So it begins
This is absolutely disgusting. Whoever called the police is unbelievably cruel.
This is sick a mother loses her child and some lowlife gets her thrown into police custody i hope any pro lifers here in the UK get shut down big time
I went to nursing school with some religious nutters. I’m guessing this wasn’t a team decision but a bad egg
So it begins.
This will happen more and more. They will want to get a “conversation” going where they start making a woman’s choice a question rather than a right.
The more we tolerate their fucking intolerance the more emboldened they will get.
We need to learn from the fire than America played with to “motivate voters”. They had litteral decades to make women’s health unassailable and instead they used it as a drum to beat to get donations and support.
Coupled with the idea of raising taxes on childless people in the UK, which papers were reporting on at the weekend after it was floated by the ultra-traditional Catholic editor of niche publication *Conservative Woman*, it looks like forced birth rhetoric is about to ramp up massively in this country.
“doesn’t matter what happens in the US, that kind of thing wil never happen here!”
I’ve heard that repeatedly since the Roe decision, almost daily something comes out that proves how hollow that sentiment is.
Whoever reported this to the police has committed a crime themselves, as well as breaching the professional standards of whichever profession they are a part of by breaching the woman’s confidentiality. It is not our place as healthcare providers to report anything to the police unless there is an imminent threat to somebody’s life. I sincerely hope whoever reported this is no longer working in healthcare, they have no place at all in this industry.
I’m a man and I’m increasingly aware of having “male privilege”.
This story, like the overturn of Roe V Wade in the USA, is fucking disgusting.
Please lock up every copper involved in this atrocity
Looks like the extremists are aiming for here, she should sue for wrongful arrest.
Wait, wrong country.
Are we importing all our policies from the USA now?
Tragic story, I hope she takes legal action against the hospital for this and heads roll.
Bro what the actual fuck is going on? “The worlds gone mad” is an idiom I used to scoff at but holy shit!?
All of the medical staff that were involved should no longer work in roles where they have access to vulnerable people, they simple do not have the skills required to be safe.
The level of unnecessary damage they have inflicted on this woman , will have long term consequences for her, they all should have the same.
The police did not need to take her into custody , she was not a threat to other people or herself.
The police need to be investigated as to why they felt this was an appropriate action.
This woman is living a parent’s worst nightmare, made far worse by a lot of inadequate people who failed to do their job properly.
As if giving birth to a still born baby wasn’t enough for a woman, being wrongly accused and being arrested, when she should’ve been offered grieving counselling. Surely they could’ve checked the baby over and carried out checks of previous scans etc…
Shameful. How the hell do things like this happen in a first-world civilized country?
Thought this was in USA first… How is this shit happening here.
And so it begins…
This is completely unacceptable in a civil society. I hope all the bastards involved are real happy with themselves. Locking up a woman for 36 hours for having miscarriage. All because she’d previously contacted an abortion provider. Didn’t occur to them that she must’ve changed her mind if she was there in labour. Absolutely disgraceful.
Maybe they fucked up somewhere and are scapegoating her?
What the duck, I assumed this was in the US
I know this wasn’t the case but…

The police arrest people for performing abortions on themselves?
The fuck kind of country has this turned into.
If a woman has to perform an abortion on herself and the response is for the police to arrest her.
Hope the healthcare providers involved in that decision were sacked – absolutely shameful really.
In circumstances like this, I wish people would just leave well enough alone. How would they even prove it was an illegal abortion?
