Food Lion is owned by Ahold Delhaize but that’s pretty much it. I frequent North Carolina and have seen them here and there. They are budget stores like Aldi, probably even worse, and are nothing like Delhaize here. They basically acquired a budget chain and rebranded it to Food Lion but they didn’t change the formula.
Ahold Delhaize owns a lot of grocery stores in the US. In PA and Maryland, they own the Giant/Martin’s stores, and in other places Stop and Stop is also Ahold Delhaize.

Yes! As a native of South Carolina I was quite shocked to see the Food Lion lion when I was in Brussels for a few months! Though Publix is the better grocery store.
When i was on a work trip in Romania i was surprised to see they also have it there under the name mega image
Yeah no crap, it’s their largest market, Belgium is only their third largest, behind the Netherlands (iirc)
