  1. Ah yes, because over in GB we all care so much about a reduction in exports to NI due to the NI protocol that we are happy to abandon scientific research collaboration lol /s

  2. Well, we where part of the £80bn Horizon Europe programme but most grants are now cancelled… another Brexit win, but like all Brexit wins the UK is the loser.

    Shady comment from Professor Fetzer.

  4. This is especially depressing because the UK routinely won a high amount of the EU science budget.

    >The UK was one of the leading Member States in securing funding for research and innovation and various other projects, with around 14% of funds allocated from the Horizon 2020 programme going to the UK, and three British universities are in the top ten recipients to date. The typical aggregate value of direct funding is around £2 billion per year.

  5. It’s sad (genuine) that the EU thinks the UK will care…we have become anti-intellecutual populist and hate experts, so this will only be concern to the already concerned not the ones starting this trade war like the dup

  6. As someone who got his first job in the UK thanks to an EU grant, I’m aware of the gravity of this and the number of Phds and researchers in universities that will be affected by this.

  7. Well, obviously collateral until Tories stop fucking around and fraternising with extremists in the DUP post colonials.

  8. Just for those who dont know. These are the prestigious ERC grants which can and frequently are for around 5 million each. So this is essentially a half billion loss to uk science.

  9. This news breaks on the same day several of Boris’ colleagues acknowledge the current government is as incompetent as it appears. Not a good day, Boris.

  10. I know this is a really insignificant and personal problem, but my arts funding has also been cut.
I am on a low income, and the EU funding essentially paid for my pottery studio time, all I had to pay for was clay. Now that it’s been cut it’s gone from £50 a term to £200 a term and I can’t afford it any more.

  11. It’s not a ‘Brexit row’. It’s Britains departure from EU. Literally voted and requested for by Britain. You hate us EU nazis after all, spat in our faces as you ran away toward your ‘freedom’. Just feel sorry for the people who did not vote for the mess, stuck on the island with the loonies.

  12. We can’t get the same benefits as being in the club after leaving the club ? Why weren’t we told…oh wait.
