Parliament an unsafe workplace due to sexual misconduct by MPs, say unions

  1. Given the number of recent incidents and that it has been clear that those in leadership (I use thst erm loosely) knew about allegations and did nothing I would agree.

  2. Let’s not forget our Prime Minister Boris Johnson

    >Charlotte Edwardes claimed the then-Spectator editor touched her leg under the table without permission at the magazine’s London office in 1999

    >Boris Johnson denies ‘squeezing journalist’s thigh under table
    >
    >”His hand is high up my leg and he has enough inner flesh beneath his fingers to make me sit suddenly upright…”

  3. lmao it’s incredible how well remunerated a job that essentially boils down to being a toff sex pest is.

  4. I heard from the Conservative misconduct investigator on radio 4 the otherday that there was something like 56 Conservative MPs under investigation for sexual harassment.

  5. Imagine Parliament going centuries with extra lavish privileges, such as subsidised bars for day drinking at work, and one generation comes in to tear it all up.

  6. This great piece on ‘sexual harassment in the HoC’ from Esther Webber this morning is more suitably fitting in here:

    >Sexual harassment of women in Westminster has been in the headlines for years. Now gay men are speaking out too.

And for those wwho want to catch up on all the different articles:

  7. It seems that some MP’s aren’t aware of the fact that most women don’t enjoy being groped, nor do many men either. Or making bizarre comments about how a woman crosses her legs etc… It makes the Tories sound like a bunch of sex crazed monsters.

  8. Let’s see;
    – working poverty resulting in food banks required for nurses, teachers, etc.
    – an energy crisis that will cull a lot of sick and elderly this winter
    – dangerously underfunded nhs seeing constant reports of people dying waiting for ambulances
    – shockingly mismanaged pandemic
    – International reputation in tatters as PM tries to break treaties
    – immoral and illegal treatment of refuges
    – economy nosediving
    – mp professional standards resulting in wide spread drop in public opinion

But it takes their safety being at risk before they do the right thing and condemn bojo’s circus.

    Sounds about right.

  9. I find it extremely hypocritical that the Tories claim that trans women are predators and everything else, meanwhile the actual predators are the Tories themselves. So it seems they’re projecting their crimes onto a minority.

  10. So.ething like 9% of MPs are under investigation for sexual.miaconduct. imagine this at ANY company. End off…meh, not in politics, they get away with just about anything.
