Doing some genealogy research. My gr-gr-grandfather was born in Wasteschen, East, Prussia. Is this it? Tags:poland 3 comments … he was born in 1867. This is the best map I can find of Prussia from that time. It maps to current day Wrzesnia. [https://goo.gl/maps/vt3okwhooDTFDXQP6](https://goo.gl/maps/vt3okwhooDTFDXQP6) I was not able to find any reference to “Wasteschen” in either German or Polish dictionaries. Can somebody confirm this for me? If you meant “East Prussia” then it’s completely [different region](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/East_Prussia) What you pointed on a map, it’s “Wreschen” – “Września” in Polish. The only similar name I could find is “Teschen”, modern day [Cieszyn](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cieszyn). None of these cities belong to historical region of East Prussia. I’m afraid some clarification would be needed to pinpoint the specific birthplace. I live in east prussia and tbh i can’t think of any place called wasteschen Leave a ReplyYou must be logged in to post a comment.
