  1. Huge difference among age demographics. We’re seeing the over 35 cohort starting to feel the squeeze and getting a bit restless (-6 FFG) and flip to SF. Clear that FFGs only concern remains those over 50 years of age. I’d expect a massive giveaway bonanza for the elderly in the budget.

  2. Can you imagine being an 18 year old and being like “I absolutely LOVE Fine Gael! I just can’t get enough of their neoliberal policies!”

  3. Pretty much textbook case of how people lean left when young, and gradually drift right as they age.

It’s all related to income, and whether you feel like you get more from the government relative to the taxes you pay (when young) or vice versa (when older)

  4. I see a lot of people on the Crainn page and here mentioning SF in regards to legalising cannabis lately. I’ve been thinking what in the world makes these people believe SF would be in any way supportive of legalisation. The penny just dropped today when I realised they are not old enough to know the real SF. This data confirms that for me.

If you are reading this and you didn’t live through the 90’s my advice for you is to find a local independent that might aline with your values and give them your vote. The reason why SF have never been anywhere near getting into power is because it was never a good idea.

They probably are going to get a run in some form of government next time around but if your going to vote for them make sure you do your research before pulling the trigger. Pun intended
