Another school lunchtime favourite was Club Shandy.
Not Rock Shandy. **Actual** Shandy, made with beer, in a can, at the shop.
Bloody lovely taste.
Tell me you’re from Cork, without saying you’re from Cork. Like.
I used to knick carrols off my mam. Friend of mine at the time told me to switch to benson because carrols make your heart bleed. Good times.
No way – Rothmans & Club orange
The cork is **strong** is this one.
For 20 years I’ve had no interest in cigarettes but that Carrolls pack has me wanting one.
Snobby gits… we didn’t have the money for a pack, we bought them singly.
Superkings for me. Although this was 2003
When I was going to secondary school in the 90s it was a pound a day for the bus so I spent the pound on single cigs and walked to school, 3kms every morning, 3kms in the evening, gave up the cigs by 3rd year and started getting the bus to school instead of buying the cigs, I got fat. I was doing more steps when smoking
Tanora. Now there’s a name I’ve not heard in a long time

i use to get the loose ciggies for 10p back in the day
10 Major 35p, bar of Golden crisp 15p.
50p for a day out.
God this beats the 2009 one hands down, and I’m equally in between both for generation
Takes me back to third class. Out in the yard a couple a smokes, talking about Captain Planet and Italia 90.
If that said 5th Year and it was Major and Cidona then it me.
Used to steal Rothmans off the mother, Carrolls of the father, players navy cut (the ones without the filters) off the Grandfather. Tis no wonder my chest is in a heap these days
You were flush with your family pack in school! God be with the days you could get a 10 box of Johnny blue, a packet of gum and a box of matches for two pounds.
The bus driver in primary school used to stop the bus on the way home and get us to run in and get him cigarettes sometimes.
And if we begged him enough he’d often stop for us to get sweets.
20 box! Who are Charlie haugheys stable boy
Only cork people will get the Tanora
I want Tanora in a can back.
20s. Big spender.
My local shops sold Singles and had no issue selling them to the kids, can’t remember what they cost, but you could get a cigarette for less than the price of a bar of chocolate back in those days. Majors were the other popular brand back then among the cool kids.
