So I don’t know who could possibly ever think that fake grass is “green”, even people who advocate for them cannot believe that, and it cannot be a reason people buy them…
So I read the article and apparently having a fake lawn means fewer petrol-driven mowers (do lots of people have these?). The rest of the article is all about how environementally bad and high maintenance fake lawns are so maybe it’ll put people off, but not because people thought they were “green”.
I think anyone who thought they were ‘green’ would clearly be an idiot who cares nothing for the planet. It obviously says alot about your neighbours
It may be obvious to some but others clearly need to hear it, so articles like this are important. There are a lot of myths regarding climate change and COIVD should have shown us how easy those can be spread, as well as why we need to disprove them as quickly as possible. The best carbon capture technology we have is plants: the more we have, the better. We need a serious drive to get people to re-wild their gardens and drop the idea that astroturf, gravel or a manicured garden are desirable. They are effectively urban deserts and terrible for wildlife. It’s a simple thing that many people can do to help with climate change and it is cheap too. There are no real downsides to it.
lol The Observer – pushing bullshit – as usual – like all the newspapers ….
Artificial grass is one of the weirdest Inventions humanity has ever made. It’s almost like one of those strange behaviours that appear in animals that have spent too long in captivity. An innate desire that gets subverted.
But seriously if you want less maintenance put down flagstones or something. All that plastic grass does is spread microplastics all over you, your kids, your house etc.
