Yeah, I was meant to be heading down to Bristol for work on Monday night, coming back Tuesday evening. I ducked out of that one last week when we were told speed restrictions could double journey times. Been there, done that, sat on a train outside Stroud for two hours baking in heat with no refreshments only to arrive at 10pm.
Government say use public transport in one hand. Met office says don’t.
What if you’ve got no choice? Surely the trains should be able to aid its passengers? If not time to build some modern trains that can. Its only going to be normal every summer.
Have a flight Tuesday afternoon and am getting the train there rip me i guess 🫠
Basically, stay at home if you can. This is not the sort of heat you can enjoy at the beach or in the garden, it is the sort of heat that makes living uncomfortable. If people have not heeded the message by now, then they never will.
My stomach is literally in knots about this. I’m graduating from uni (York) on Tuesday and literally have to be on my train tomorrow. I’ve spent 100s of £££ on this one event. I can’t drive there. Idk what I’ll do with myself if my train is cancelled and I can’t go.
It’s so fucking frustrating. I get why they’re being cautious, but I also don’t know why our infrastructure is so crap that in rain, wind, snow and sun, trains just go to shit.
