GMIT were more concerned about the privacy breach and the bad publicity than the fact two lecturers were openly belitting students. Pretty bad.
I worked for five years in a third level institution where a big part of job was dealing with lecturers on a day to day basis. They regularly say much worse.
Not a big deal. An investigation is ridiculous. I know primary teachers who talk about their annoying kids and call them “little shits”. It’s people chatting with their peers/colleagues in a casual manner.
If I heard that a lecturer said my presentation was painfully shite I’d laugh at the comment and move on.
