  1. There is a law “National Health Service Charges to Overseas Visitors Regulations 2017″

which stipulates that anyone who is not ‘ordinarily resident in the UK must pay for most aspects of healthcare. ”

This seems fine, and we are on about 30-40 people over 5 years here.

  2. The issue with the nhs is that they’re not upfront with pricing and just tell you that as a tourist you will be charged 150% of the rate but you have no clue if the rate is 300 or 3,000 pounds.

I had to visit a doctor and I couldn’t go private because none of the doctors in the city I’m in take on pregnant women so I had to go through the nhs. They made me sign a document saying I agree to pay whatever they charge me and then I was seen. Im now sitting here wondering when and how large the bill I receive will be.

What’s worse is I didn’t even get to see an obgyn I just saw a nurse because they’re so understaffed you don’t even get proper treatment even though you’re paying 150% of the rate.

I now need to spend extra money to travel to London to see an actual obgyn but I’ll at least know what it costs in advance.
