It’s about damn time this is being taken seriously and highlighted. I’m going to re-paste my experiences I wrote in another post only last week.
I’ve been Forcefully kissed I don’t know how many times and when you try push them away they grab your wrists. I’ve been Left with hand mark shaped bruises on my ass, breasts and arms when I’ve been groped walking through pubs and nightclubs. I’ve been randomly motorboated in a pub in cork. Lads forcefully grab you for pictures especially older oul lads.
Now coppers is a whole experience on its own. I remember walking from the basement to the VIP area with one of my friends and I was groped about 6 times. My friend who’s a male was disgusted, that’s when he realised how bad it is. I am constant groped all over its disgusting and have been even left in bruises.
I was in a pub in Dublin before covid and it was jammers and this guy kept following me everywhere, when I went to the bathroom he apparently followed me but lucky One of the guys I was with noticed and he literally wouldn’t let me out of his sight from that point on.
It’s really fucking scary and all of my friends have a story. I’m late twenties and I really believe it’s down to the lack of education on consent in our schools, lack of awareness amongst friends and a lack of educational campaigns .
Edit: before someone calls me out: I’ve also seen this happen one time to a young guy. I was at a gig early enough and a woman (50’s) walked up and literally grabbed this lad by the balls, he kept asking her to stop and move back but she didn’t. I walked up and gently nudged her away and handed the chap by ID, I was mid twenties and definitely didn’t need to be ID’d. I totally understood how he felt and had to intervene, the guy thanked me. It happens to both men and women but the point is it’s completely unacceptable and I hope this sets a precedent.
Not in Dublin but Ive had my arsed pinched too many times when out. One time I was left bruised. Dirty cowards can’t let a person walk by them without mauling.
Fair play to that woman for reporting it.
Fuck off home, and give your cows a fondle.
Delighted she reported him. This happens so often. One time my ass was grabbed walking up the stairs in Coppers. I turned on the guy and freaked out at him. He was mortified. I hope it made him copon.
The heart and soul of rural Ireland.
What’s his profession got to do with it?!
It happens all too often, women do report it in bars to bouncers but then fail to follow up with gardai. It should always be reported.
That being said can I pick up something that is mentioned in the article:- “Judge Hughes reminded the club of its legal responsibilities not to serve drunk people.”
Do bar staff realise this is a thing?
Ah ye fucking dickhead
What an absolute filthy prick. The poor woman – and poor women in general having to deal with this shit from cunts like this all the time. Lock these cunts up and leave them there.
Every time I go to the George I always end up having someone grabbing my arse. It’s so fucking annoying. Fair play to her following this up.
Honestly we should take it easy on this lad. He was wrong but the level of attention will lead to a suicide.
What a cailín, fair play to her for reporting it.
This happened to me far too many times, nightclubs, on public transport (packed trains where you’re all standing are the worst), on the street even, but I always retaliated with a shove or a punch.
A bouncer pulled me out of the Wright venue years ago because I was walking up the stairs (up to where the purple room was) and some bloke behind me shoved his hand up my dress and tried to force his hand into me, I turned around as a reflex and kicked him in the chest and he fell down the stairs.
When explaining myself outside the bouncer told me “I saw what happened, but you kicked him right in front of me so I had to pull one of you out and I didn’t want to pull him out too because I didn’t think it would be safe to have the two of you out here” and I remember telling him how wrong it was for me and my friends to be ejected when I was defending myself from a scumbag.
It’s not ok to touch someone without their say so, I don’t know where people get off thinking there isn’t consequences, whether it’s a kick into the chest or the Gardai charging you.
I’d love to see a trend of zero tolerance on this.
So great to see that this one is being pursued. Might make some of those shit heads think twice.
I think sounds like nothing. Sorry, but I cant even fathom why this is up in court.
He’s crying because he’s being punished, not because he regrets what he did. If she hadn’t reported him he’d have laughed the night off as “some craic” and never thought about her again.
23 year old man in the most well known club in the country, alcohol isn’t an excuse.
That face along with his background makes this a journalists wet dream
Throw away the key!!
I was drunk, so I don’t remember, but I know I didn’t do it. Grand so
He thought they were cousins.
A young farmer – is 26 young or are you well into adulthood? Does it matter terribly that he’s a farmer? If he was a claims handler for axa would that have been mentioned so much?
First disco in Dublin – is that an excuse? Sorry judge I’m used to Gort disco rules
My friend was groped (under skirt bad) in Diceys years ago and when the lads found out they battered the guy and were thrown out, then some Brazilians beside her asked what happened and they battered the guy a second time lol
Only then did the security kick the groper out
Fool. You can’t do that shit
A tale as old as time
Some of these responses are a bit scary, because it’s more than possible to be falsely accused of this sort of thing.
I was once at a bar ordering drinks and a young woman standing next to me suddenly looked very distressed, looked over at her friends and told them I had slapped her arse.
It was very convincing because she genuinely believed I had. What she knew is that someone slapped her on the arse and that I was standing next to her.
Later that night I discovered that one of the dick heads who I was there with (not someone I knew before that night but nontheless in our group) thought it would be funny to assault this young woman and let her think it was me. He snuck up behind her, assaulted her and ran off before she saw him.
I’m fortunate that vigilante justice wasn’t issued that night. The little cunt was trying to provoke me all night.
You know he came on here afterwards with a hangover crying about how scared he was in Dublin and how the city is disgrace.
Should make an example of him and put him on the sex offenders register.
I never understood pricks like this. What sort of life leads someone to think they can just go up and grab a stranger like that? There should be absolutely zero tolerance for it.
