I know that I needed to update my driver’s license before Brexit kicked in properly, which I did, but I’m not so sure about my yellow slip. I’m married to a Greek Cypriot, have lived here for 11 years, work and have children here. My yellow slip was issued about 10 years ago and has no expiry date on it.

Does anybody know what the deal is with Brexit and yellow-slip things for somebody like me?

Thanks!

EDIT (in case anybody else has the same question):

Following u/scottish_dec’s response below, I took a look at the government webpage on the issue here: [CIVIL REGISTRY AND MIGRATION DEPARTMENT – Migration Section (moi.gov.cy)](http://moi.gov.cy/MOI/CRMD/crmd.nsf/0/e1c17b76ed2b212bc225864c00378042?OpenDocument&ExpandSection=1%2C3#_Section1)

> It is noted that the Republic of Cyprus has chosen the Declaratory system…where the eligible UK nationals and their family members who are also UK nationals are entitled to retain their previous residence permits as EU Citizens and can use them as means of proof of their right to reside in the Republic  Also they have the right if they wish to secure the new residence permit to be issued as of 1.1.2021.

It note that: The beneficiaries of the Withdrawal Agreement who hold documents issued under the Directive 2004/38/EC are not obliged to replace them, unless they have an expiration date.

Mine doesn’t have an expiry date, so good news for me, I guess. I could replace it with the new doc, but those expire, so I’m not going to do that.

  1. I believe it depends on the classification of the yellow slip, MEU 1, MEU 2 or MEU 3. I’m not an expert by any means, but I believe for working, and gesy ect. You must have atleast the MEU 3 or to switch to the new form that they released.

Out of curiosity, after being here 10 years, with presumably Cyprus passport holding spouse, and children, why not skip to it and apply for the passport? For EU nationals/UK the fees are rather low compared (around 2-3000 EUR).
