  1. The ancient home of the summer sun

    These maps make me realize how peculiar my location is. I live right in the middle of that, on a peninsula of a peninsula, completely embraced by the Basin.

  2. That’s the way I imagine Europe/Northern Africa looking as my living room (in Sofia Bulgaria) is overlooking the west.

  3. In my language we call “latitude” and “longitude” “geographic width” and “length”.
    I was taught that while the other way around makes more sense, the terms were used by Mediterranean sailors who based the name on their sea’s shape.

  4. As an Anglo-Saxon, I can’t fathom why anyone would want to live in a beautiful seaside place with excellent weather, picturesque towns, and remarkably attractive people from a range of unique, highly artistic cultures.

    Worst would be the delicious cuisine, and the way it is scientifically proven to make people live longer and be healthier.
