Switzerland refused to accept wounded Ukrainians

  1. Its understandable since they can be soldiers. It’s one of the banes of trying to keep a neutral status (which is another topic in itself). For example, if I remember correctly, during WW2 to follow this law they had to internate/keep under vigilance the polish soldiers who fled in Switzerland

  2. Yes you must not help wounded people right? How brave and neutral of them, but taking Russian blood money does not at all interfere with neutrality apparently.

  3. Well, for me this neutrality smells like indifference!

We welcome Russian money and gold, Ukrainian money and gold, but helping with people, nah

  4. Hardly surprised.

Switzerland’s image of a freedom loving humanitarian country is just that, an image.
They’ve never cared for anything they couldn’t make a profit on.

  5. So the reasoning is because the Geneva convention states neutral countries can only treat wounded soldiers if they stop them going back into battle. And the Swiss say it’s impossible to distinguish between Soldier and Civilian in Ukraine. So the only way they could treat Ukrainians and ensure they protect the Geneva Convention is by putting treated Ukrainians into camps.

I don’t think it’s wise for Switzerland to break the Geneva Convention to avoid a attention grabbing title. Other countries are more than capable of providing the medical treatment. Sure it falls on the wrong side of history, but you have to remember that they already made a huge sacrifice to their neutrality by imposing sanctions in line with the EUs sanctions against Russia at the beginning of the war.

  6. Cowards hiding behind word “neutrality”. Like realistically what would happen if Switzerland would stop being neutral? Well i’m 99% sure they would not get invaded. So only logical answer is that they would probably lose a lot of shady money flowing in and out of their country from shady people from shady countries.
