So to summarize, Russians are learning German, Africans are studying French and US is studying… English??
you see a map post on r/europe: _kalm_
Russia and other territories in the East are labeled “German”: _Panik_
It refers to language learning: _kalm_
Sweden learning swedish and Mozambique learning portuguese
which countries study italian the most?
Expecting Russians to start learning languages of friendly countries in the near future, like Mandarin, Persian or Korean.
It’s always fascinating to me how much affinity Namibia still has for German culture and language.
My first thoughts were 1. why the fuck are swedes learning swedish (immigrants I know) and 2. why the fuck would anyone study english (I’ve always assumed everyone learns it by watching tv/movies and gaming, not by studying)
Finns learning Finnish on duolingo is a testament to how difficult it is to learn
Interesting how Chinese is not the first foreign language anywhere in the world.
No wonder why it’s English in Poland. It’s the only language available in Duolingo for Polish speakers. The rest is available in English only which makes for example learning russian unnecessarily harder and way worse experience as you can’t recreate the same ‘sounds’ with English transcription but you can with Polish.
This picture is in such a bad quality that it’s so difficult to tell what are the exact colours on those small pieces.
