Met police officer sacked after punching handcuffed black child in the face

  1. He was charged with and pleaded guilty to common assault in January 2022 and was sentenced to a curfew order for 14 weeks and ordered to pay costs.

  2. It was only yesterday that it was claimed that the Met had to hire officers who were racist, misogynistic, homophobic etc. due to the low pay attracting poorer candidates. With the Met seemingly unable to go more than a few days without a story like this coming out, Met officers clearly need to be paid a hell of a lot more and an almost complete purge if we want to see respectable officers in the Met again.

  3. Media need to stop labelling colour skin and stop been click baits. It’s time we took media to court with large fines over bad headlines and fake news. /s

  4. …the MET really is just full of complete cunts, isn’t it? It’s like it attracts the absolute worst people in society even more than a role with some power such as police officers does anyway

  5. Let’s see how quickly the police apologists get here and pretend a) this is perfectly normal, b) the kid deserved it, c) that there is the occasional bad apple (despite weekly stories about incidents).

  6. Punching a victim in the face who can’t protect themselves can be the cause of brain damage. This copper should be responsible for all medical expenses this kid incurs for the rest of his life. He should also lose his pension.

  7. What more do people want the Met to do about this case?

This particular ‘gentleman’ – a term I use very lightly – was sacked, charged with an offence over it and received due punishment for it, and now has a permanent stain on both his record and his character, which means it’s pretty much impossible that he’ll ever get to police anywhere ever again.

Another rotten apple removed from the Force, which should be celebrated.

  8. What possible reason can there be to punch someone who *is already in handcuffs*? And the fact it was a child as well… fucking revolting tbh

  9. >Martin failed to mention the punch in his initial account of the incident. It was caught on his body-worn video. He claimed the use of violence was an accident.

So he’s basically admitting that it’s a reflex to hit someone when they’re handcuffed on the ground??? What the heck is wrong with him?

  10. What is it with cops and child abuse, particularly in London? If they’re not inventing flimsy excuses to strip little girls, they’re battering them in cuffs.

Is there something a bit more *Jimmy Saville* going on here?

  11. People talk about only a few bad apples forgetting that the full saying is one bad apple spoils the bunch.

  12. I was always under the assumption the MET’s only job was to keep the rich areas clear of the poor, perform shallow perfunctory investigations to satisfy the Tabloids and to beat protesters to a pulp at any opportunity.
I presume he got sacked as the child was neither trespassing in the City of London or protesting something, and these boys in blue don’t do pro bono.
Need to set an example to keep the troops in line.
