Ironic that a guy who claims to represent the working class has never worked a day in his life.
Arguing against inflation when your solution is for the government to spend more.
I feel Paul doesn’t understand the point of a representative democracy.
His pronunciation of “of” really grates, but he’s not unique in that – very poor diction among the general populace it has to be said. “Of” is not pronounced “Ubh”.
Spot on.

It’s refreshing to hear a voice of reason in our house.
The Irish government have been doing a fantastic job at preserving the income stream of the multinationals at the expense of the average tax payer. [One of the lowest corporation tax rates in the EU](https://unlockireland.com/six-reasons-why-multinational-companies-invest-in-ireland/) and a young work force ready to be ridden hard to pay for their extortionate rants/rents.
He looks like Michéal Martin and Karl Pilkington had a love child
Edit: fair play to him though, I was just stoned and it was 1am when i typed this and thought it was gas haha
Good speech. I will look him up.
Seem he has a tankie streak like the rest of PBP. Thats a shame.
Great points, but what’s the answer to solve the problem 🏡
It’s not hard to increase profits when business were shut the year before.
But come on let’s just tax the REITs the same as small landlords
If the vote of no confidence succeeded and there was an election I’m not sure if any PBP tds would be returned, Mick Barry in cork north central would definitely be gone
Very good speech. It’s the direction other opposition parties should have used.
Gotta love Leo demeanor. Half falling asleep, not a care in the world.
Maybe I’m just hateful but would it hurt for him to sit up straight and pretend to give a damn..
And I’ll add that I think Michael Martin is pretty as a flower, yeah, a cauliflower! aha zing!
No sign of u/CaisLaochach ???
I was hoping he’d have something to say
It’s not Ireland vs Multinationals. 275,000 Irish people are employed **directly** by these multinationals.
If they pull out, the economy collapses. It is that simple.
Well unfortunately, that’s how democracy works.
It’d be great if politicians worked across the aisles to ensure everyone’s interests are getting served.
But unfortunately that’s not how it works. Neither the government nor the opposition make any effort to do this. So it’s a bit rich for a politician to complain about this. He’d do the same if he was in government.
And as an opposition TD, he’s far more concerned with launching bills that are doomed to fail or criticising the government than actually working with the government to get something for the people he claims to represent.
I had massive respect for Labour for working with the government to get their renting bill passed a few months ago. It wasn’t a major piece of legislation, but at least Labour were doing the best they could for the people they represent even from the opposition benches. It really showed maturity and that they were putting their voters’ interests above petty politics.
Murphy would never do that. He cares more about his ideological purity than actually trying to get any meaningful legislation enacted.
But he’ll still get exposure. He’ll get articles written about him and Reddit posts praising his criticisms. But not one person who has ever voted for him will be any better off for having done so. The only person who’s interests you’re serving by voting for him is Paul Murphy’s.
Yeah they do, for the people who aren’t poor.
We could live in a utopia and he’d still be bitching and giving all the soundbites to get reelected.
And not it’s that I disagree with what he’s saying I just can’t stand him.
Yes, the system is indeed working as intended.
Lots of people in this thread saying Paul doesn’t do much and doesn’t represent any of the people he claims to
I’m from Tallaght, have lived here my whole life and he’s the only TD I’ve ever seen out on the street actually talking to the people he represents when it isn’t election time and I’ve seen him do it a lot.
I’ve also had a family member get in touch with all of our local TDs trying to get help when they were going to be made homeless with their kids after their landlord lost the house and Paul is the only one they felt helped them.
I like Sean Crowe and there’s been a couple TDs I’ve known to help people around here over the years but Paul is by far the one I’ve felt most represented the people in my area.
Wish this guy used % variance , I don’t know what they took the previous year
I just can’t listen to champagne socialists.
His take on defence and defence spending is pathetic.
Good man, Paul!
Could Varadkar possibly appear any more loathsome?
Would the profit figures he is talking about not be all from 2021 earnings?
Give it a couple of centuries and life will be like something from The Hunger Games.
He’s right you know.
I love these posts for the replies by people who will never be billionaires, never mind millionaires, that cheerlead the elite who could give two shites about them.
Paul “I support the current thing” Murphy is an attention seeking clown. Look at that Boyd Barrett douchebag beside him. He wanted longer lockdowns, mandatory vaccines and now he has the gall to protest about the cost of living crisis as if shutting down the world for two years wasn’t by far the biggest reason. No no no, Putin bad. Two cretins is what these guys are.
Oh won’t somebody think of the investment funds!
Your rent is their salary!
Not interested in anything this champagne socialist has to say.
I used to think PBP TD’s were too under-dressed for official dáil business. Now I wonder should I expect to be fairly represented by FF/FG TD’s who wear such expensive clothes.
God this guy is the worst
