Yeah iv seen alot of these, but in more words, they explain how the cruise ships kill our fjords with smog in the air and sewage and chemicals in the water. Which I agree with. People if you’re going to visit then don’t do it in a floating mall.
Wow, whoever put this up is a shameful person. The ‘facts’ presented in this thread aren’t accurate, and if this sign was to have a purpose.. some actual arguements could be articulated with accurate small print on the sign. I’m ashed that my countrymen behave like this.
This is a populist movement at the moment, hating on cruises. Why not put up other signs hating on various other groups in Norway that don’t pay tax either…
I just finished my road trip through Norway and saw this sticker in Oslo. Came to this page to ask why they hate cruise tourists. Now I know, thanks. Also, very much loved my time in Norway! Absolutely gorgeous!
Do as Narvik, make it look really shitty and horribly messy.
Bengt gjør der stort på reddit om dagen. Alle burde vite om Bengt.
The Oslo fjord has become a barren wasteland 🙁
Pretty discriminating if you ask me 🤷🏽
I almost don’t get the appeal of cruise ships in general (at least the big ones).
Like, earlier this summer, I went on a DFDS cruiser set for Denmark. It was so boring with absolutely nothing to do after an hour or two. The night was also the worst I’ve had in a long time. Basically, I couldn’t sleep at all in my small room that was hot af. It felt like several days have passed by the time it was morning. And I haven’t even mentioned the ocean waves.
Perhaps I was a bit unlucky, but the waves was slamming so hard by the time it was, like, 18:00. I literally couldn’t walk normally, like everyone else. Also, I’m usually not sea sick in the slightest, but here it was so bad that I ended up dizzy and sick by the time It was night.
After I got off the boat on Denmark, I decided to refund my returning ticket back to Norway and take the train through Sweden instead.
As someone who lives in Victoria, BC I whole heartedly agree with this sentiment. Most tourists are fine, generally speaking. But cruise-tourists are the fucking worst.
Gonna ban tourists arriving by air next? That’s some bad shit too.
I hope neither of all of you that are complaining go on summer holidays to Spain, Italy or Greece…
It would be a little hypocritical of you…
For a moment I confused cruise and ferry ships, and was wondering how much longer drives, EG Bergen to Stavanger, would take if you didn’t take any ferries at all.
Cruise hate makes sense, it’s barely tourism in the local spending sense, and more just living at a wobbly hotel most of the time.
Love this. Think we all need to limit our travel and start with the most impactful ones first. As many have said, Cruise ships are wasteful and cost local infrastructure without much return. Think flying has to also be targeted as it is a large polluter. People should be more content with less travel. Most of the world has not even flown on a plane why should we get the luxury of flying almost as often as we want paying a cost that does not reflect the environmental impact the flight causes. To reiterate, cruise ships first, then planes and cars. Keep trains as long as they are electric and maybe rethink things to smaller vehicles such as electric bicycles. We are going to have to redesign how we live radically if we expect future generations to have the same quality of life. Personally, I’m content with a 15 kilometer hike from my front door and camping next to a lake…its the only travel I need any longer.

I like [Bill Burr’s](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=qT74BjNMgiI) bit about using cruise ships to filter out some of the most undesirable members of our species.
As a traveler, I’d MUCH rather see a country with my feet than in a massive boat.

Is cruising in an electric car okay?
Amen.
