Every year I am shocked when I see the effigies being burned. You can be almost guaranteed of a national and international outrage if the British flag was burned on a pyre in Dublin.

Drove through Ballymena last year, around this time, to visit the Giants Causeway (satnav led me straight into it) and the venom I could see when the creatures spotted the Irish reg, making my wife, son and mother the most nervous I’ve ever seen them. I couldn’t get out of the place quicker.
Yet we couldn’t give a toss when we see a yellow reg down south.
