  1. If people are congregating on the French coast after making their way into France through EU borders, leaving French shores and drowning off the coast of Calais its a shared issue at the very least. Kind of France to deflect its own failings onto the UK though. If France has issues with patrolling the large coastline they’d atleast allow British support on the ground which has been offered.

  2. Imagine migrants risking death to get to the UK, when they’re already in the 6th richest country in the world. Not just that but also to be “Modern slaves”, according to the French.

What does that say about how the French treat these people.

  3. > because you can work without identity papers in England and that creates a demand

Do other countries in Europe not have a shadow economy? You can’t legally offer employment in the UK without checking right to work (British/Irish passport, EU/EEA (pre)settled status, valid asylum claim, work visa etc).

  4. “The U.K. accused of having a labour market akin to slave” probably explains why we have so many Frenchies working in London.

  5. It always makes us chuckle just how illogically salty some French ministers are about Britain at every opportunity.

For example imagine not inviting the British foreign secretary to the recent talks about how to stop the traffickers, and apparently they’re all headquartered in London. Utterly ridiculous.

  6. So “modern slavery” is so enticing that it makes people risk their lives to become ‘slaves’ ? That makes perfect sense.

  7. Can our two governments just shut the fuck up and work together to resolve this crisis. It look’s like two edgy teenagers arguing in the schoolyard, it’s humiliating. -_-

  8. Migrants killing themselves in dangerous undertakings means less migrants next year. I see that as an absolute plus. I am a Slav, human life means little to us…
