*BBC Two’s Newsnight programme spent from 08:00 to 20:00 on Monday at six hospitals with the longest delays handing patients over from paramedics to accident and emergency staff.*
*This should take 15 minutes or less – but crews often wait many hours and sometimes whole 12-hour shifts, with ambulances queuing outside unable to respond to other emergency calls.*
This has been a long time coming, it’s a utter scandal that we’ve reached this point. It’s putting everyone who needs emergency treatment at risk.
The ambulance service has collapsed, but no one wants to admit it.
I am saddened by the amount of people I hear now who say they will go private to jump queues for treatment for themselves or their relatives.
That is designed, the Tories have deliberatly made the service so bad that people feel they have no choice if they want to live pain free…..or even live.
>> At Worcestershire Royal, 15 were queuing up to four hours, before the Newsnight researcher was ordered off the premises
By whom?
Vote the Tories out.
Why is this not on the agenda of our would be new Prime ministers?
The problem seems to be the hospitals not the ambulance services? I’m presuming the problem isn’t too few A and E staff so 1. Need more beds for admissions 2. Need convalescent ‘homes’ for people who are fine and just recovering with less medical care needed – whether they can’t quite go home or go back to a care home yet . 3. Possibly *everyone* needs to pay more tax to do this not just everyone richer than me?
Make sure you tune for our next episode where we explain how the Tory’s SUN~~A~~K the NHS
If you have ever watched the BBC ‘Ambulance’ program this is blindingly obvious.
Same with Police programs etc. We are supposed to be one of the worlds leading economies but any night on TV you can watch programs about how inept we are.
It would be funny if it wasnt scary. And seemingly oblivious cunts will still vote Tory at the next election.
We’ve been on the brink of collapse for years. Some days you wonder if today will be the day? But so far no matter how bad it gets, we always seem to cling on.
There’s a boat load near me that are already run by private companies, I bet that number jumps shortly
Let’s rephrase it shall, ‘After being Chronically underfunded by successive Tory governments Ambulance service on the brink of collapse’
Obviously, the only solution is privatisation.

It’s the Tory plan! Force the NHS to collapse by underfunding for 12 years so they have the excuse to sell it all to their wealthy mates. Say goodbye to the NHS cos it won’t be around for much longer!
I thought that the pandemic is over.
What do you expect with a Tory government. Yes Labour are just as bad but Tories been in power for 12yrs and this is 100% down to them. Brexit got rid of a shit load of staff from a lot of public sectors as some couldn’t stay and many felt they weren’t welcome here any longer. You wanna train as a DR, or nurse, could be looking at anywhere from 50-100k debts when done, then you end up in a job where you are under paid, overworked, treated like crap by government and the public.
Personally the NHS should be detached from government and have a permanent increase every year to fund it properly. It can’t be used in political debate. Free parking for staff, better pay so no one is required to ever use a food bank like many do now. Recruit of new staff either free or with a big discount to encourage more people to train for the job. Maybe have a rule if you get it discounted/free, once qualified you will be required to work in a certain area that needs the staff more for a certain period of time. Start a new national holiday called NHS day, where we celebrate the NHS and raise money like we do Red nose day/Children in need but all the money raised goes directly to the NHS. Never run for profit. Better education from an early age to teach people how to use the health services rather than people going to the wrong place and putting too much pressure. Fines for those do cause issues like drunks from nightouts causing problems. First Aid taught in schools, colleges, workplaces, so people can handle treating the basics. Work places not requiring Drs notes or a new system where they can be issued via an app…its like the last place I worked at, people there would still go the drs everytime they had a cough, cold, sore throat, very basic stuff you have your entire life, surely know how to treat it themselves by now…so much in wasted time for shit like that.
Another shining success of tories brexiters on the bright path to bring unmatched brexit benefits to all… meaning all private US companies which will bleed us dry asap. Lmao
I’m just going to say the other week my son woke up in the middle of the night coughing and struggling to breath and then vomitting because he was coughing so hard. His breathing got worse and worse until he went pale and you could see him really struggling. Before he got to this point I had called an ambulance and was told 120 minutes , despite him struggling to breath so bad. They told me to call back if it got worse which it did. I can’t emphasize how close he was to almost stopping breathing.
He vomited again when I tried to get him into some clothes to drive him to A & E and I had to wait until his coughing had subsided and force clothes on and drive him to A & E . I carried him in from that point forward the care give was good.
Due to this incident my son had burst several blood vessels on his eye ,it hasn’t effected his vision but his eyes do look bad.
He is thankfully on the mend.
But what the government has done to the NHS is so heinous, that people are now forced to make dangerous journeys with potentially unstable patients.
If I did not have a car I’m not sure that I’d be typing this message today , I dread to know what I would he dealing with
I was in severe pain and unable to care for myself due to pancreatitis and pyelonephritis and was unable to keep down any food or fluids and was advised that an ambulance wasn’t able to be dispatched due to lack of availability. I paid for a taxi to the hospital and there was at least 7 ambulances queueing up to get onto one of the 8 bays at the local A&E department.
Once I was admitted and triaged, I went for tests and all the results were back in less time than I had waited from arrival to being triaged. I spent 11 hours at the hospital of which over 7 hrs was waiting to be seen and about 4 hours being tested, diagnosed and treated including for dehydration before being discharged with the advice if I started to get worse to come straight back. The doctor in A&E admitted she would rather have admitted me and fully rehydrated me and administered IV antibiotics but was unable to due to “bed pressures.”
every single fuckwit that acts as if going the american way will improve anything:
– america spend more per capita on healthcare than any country with universal healthcare.
– their life expectancy, despite this spend, IS DROPPING.
– medical bankruptcy is the biggest cause of bankruptcy.
– before the tories took over, our healthcare system was highly rated worldwide.
unless you are in the 1%, you will suffer. VOTE THEM OUT
Well maybe these trusts need looking into, or the directorships need investigating, as they’re clearly just an obfuscation layer to help reduce performance until it’s deemed privatisable by the vultures in charge.
During covid response all the old decommissioned Ambulances were brought up to current standard and hundreds of soldiers were trained to drive them.
Why don’t they just pair one Paramedic with a military driver and double the output? Obviously keep a few dual paramedics for T1 patients.
If you vote Tory you have blood on your hands. No ifs, no buts. In 2010 you could see your GP within a day, get treated in A&E in a matter of hours. Now they have to treat patients in the corridors and the car parks. This was not inevitable. This is them wanting to sell it to their friends, running it down to the point where they can. This causes people to die.
What happened to that extra £350m per week? Has Bojo and carrie pissed it all away on their flat? Shocked pikachu face.
Educating the public from a young age on what to call an ambulance for is massively Important. Teaching basic first aid in schools would give people the knowledge to know when to call an Ambulance. Its not by any means going to sort all of the problems, but it could relieve some pressures and allow the people who really need help to get it.
That £350 million we sent to the EU every week will kick in soon!
“But both parties are as bad as each other!”
I don’t want to hear this shit anymore.
Only one party has been deliberately underfunding and sabotaging the NHS for years. Only one party grossly mishandled a global pandemic, leading to the deaths of thousands. That party is the Conservative party, and if you vote for them you have no right to complain about the ambulance service being on the brink of collapse. You have to suffer like the rest of us do now. What will you do when you’re in need of emergency transport to a hospital? What if your families need it? How can you vote Tory and live with yourself.
One of many services completely destroyed by moronic Tories. The word Tory and Cunt mean exactly the same thing.
15 ambulances outside Southend on Sea A&E all day today with not a lot going on.
Hard to tell if it’s an A&E or hospital issue but that must be tying up a lot of ambulances that should be utilised on other urgent jobs.
The issue at the moment is social care. There aren’t enough people willing to be carers anymore, it’s a shit job and the pay is shit. Which means people who need carers can’t leave the hospital, my ward has 32 patients and currently 26 are fit to leave but can’t. The average wait for care and a care home is heading towards 4 months. This is the same all over the country. This means the beds are blocked. Which means no one sick can enter the hospital. Which means ambulances can’t unload. Which means ambulances aren’t free do deal with emergencies.
Good job there isn’t going to be a nationwide catastrophe next week causing a huge influx of callouts
I had to call 111 the other night because of an issue. They identified I needed to get to a&e asap. They asked if there was any way I could get there myself because an ambulance wouldn’t be able to make it to me for hours. My wife doesn’t drive so I booked a taxi and stumbled my way in. Sad situation really that they will be pushed so much.
Recently friend tripped and fell in the garden breaking her hip. She couldn’t move and ambulance took 4 hours to arrive to her.
