I’ve seen social media posts from the NHS, the local council and even the police explaining that people should have a drink of water or use a fan to cool down – who is this advice aimed at exactly? Surely there aren’t people around who can’t work these sorts of things out for themselves. Seems anything causes a panic now and the authorities assume the population has a mental age of 5.

I’m actually shocked at how many people are downplaying this like it’s just a hot summers day. This isn’t the same as when you go to Spain, most people won’t have experienced this before. Brits can be so fucking stupid when it comes to weather

Humidity on Monday and Tuesday is going to be less than 40% which is well below average, and the sort of conditions most of us will holiday to Spain for in non air conditioned mobile homes.

I work in what’s essentially a steel box with no ventilation (as its all blocked, has been for months) and have to do heavy lifting

I live in a place where it’s regularly 36 degrees in the summer. A good trick is to put your feet in a bucket of cold water. It saved me from misery during a power cut a few days ago.
First time I’ve ever felt a bit smug about working in a basement with no windows.
Can we stop playing into this nonsense. It being hot around summer time isn’t anything new or world ending
Heat in the UK is a signal for the end of the world. Loved the gloomy, rainy and cool summer whenever I was there.
