Hard agree on this one. There’s tons of other ways to move, and I dont think that there’s a way to make some rules which allow donkey riding without hurting/taxing the animals, because most people running businesses in tourist spots would sell their mothers for money .
I wouldn’t mind Donkey Riding if it was just locals riding their donkey for small distances when there’s no harsh heat, but using donkey riding as a tourist attraction is cruel, and the whole thing happening during summer with some days having extreme heat makes it even worse.

When dealing with Greek government:
There is no way to ban donkey riding only in the island of santorini since it is unfair for the locals to not have access to a traditional means of transportation and work. People all over Greece use donkeys for agriculture work and other such activities. Any law banning the use of donkeys would be met with opposition and moral concerns.
I agree. When they are overworked they don’t taste as good.
