16. I read one time that, because the Irish were so used to violence on a daily basis, we’d built up a degree of “tolerance” to shock factors in ads. They said that was the reason our road safety adverts were so gruesome, because they needed to be. I don’t know if that’s true but in fairness it would make sense.
