Men under 40 shouldn’t have more than a shot glass of beer per day, new study suggests

  1. Did they run this study on mice and forget to scale it up for humans?

I’m sure there’s some proper science in what they’ve done, but we also have 100s of years worth of empirical data to show the effects of excessive drinking on the population as a whole and I think there are plenty of other factors that are more detrimental to overall health…

  2. >Women aged 39 and under can have a little more – two tablespoons of wine,

LOL, who is going to drink just two tablespoons of wine.

  3. I seem to recall reading that the idea that some alcohol is protective in older people was biased, because the teetotalers on the study tended to have health problems prompting them to give up drinking.

  4. On the contrary life is a complete gamble anyway & providing climate change doesn’t wipe us all out you have a decent chance of reaching 75+ drinking or not.

I’d much rather drink/smoke here and there and die at 70 than do neither & die at 100.

  5. Whilst I am sure this study was properly done I have to wonder about it’s conclusions when I view the real world.

All of the nations with the highest life expectancy also drink like fish, the UK included.

  6. I always find the reaction to thesethings the most entertaining.

People scoff at this stuff because its unreasonable. Its not nice to be given advice that is hardto follow – much easier to dismiss it

  7. “They said alcohol provides no health benefit in people aged under 40 – and poses risks including injuries relating to drinking or car accidents, suicides and murders.”

What a bollocks article. That’s about the nub there. If you have a drink, remember not to have a car accident, commit suicide or murder anyone.

  8. Lots of things don’t have any health benefits, if the only reason to do any activity is because it has health benefits, life would be very boring.
