‘It’s a mess and I’ve never seen anything like it’: global lost luggage crisis mounts.

  1. Never been happier to have hidden an AirTag in my bags last time I flew internationally.

Sure, they could have been lost anyways but imagine trying to find your bag in a sea of lost bags like in the photo…

  2. Remember that if an airline loses your luggage and the way they treat you is unfair or unreasonable, you can always get mediation. In Germany for example the SOP does this and comes down hard on airlines being dishonest or fraudulent.

Also, in an unlocked pocket of your bag, print out and laminate a bit of paper with your name, contact details and frequent flyer numbers. Last time my luggage was lost (by a different airline) it was found by a proactive KLM agent who found my boarding pass in the front pocket of my bag. They then used my FlyingBlue number to contact me.
