  1. This is what Google says it is….
Heracleum sphondylium, commonly known as hogweed, common hogweed or cow parsnip, is a herbaceous perennial or biennial plant, in the umbelliferous family Apiaceae that includes fennel, cow parsley, ground elder and giant hogweed. It is native to Europe and Asia. Wikipedia

  2. If you don’t know the plant best not to touch it. Could be poisonous and some are from the carrot family that look like this. Grow mostly nest water and are highly poisonous

    Maybe you know it already

Hemlock is the one near water but doesn’t have the hair on the stems like this one.

  3. There’s not enough in this pic to positively ID it. Don’t listen to people saying it’s hogweed because there isn’t enough identifiers in this picture to be sure

It’s something in the Umbellifer family alright

  4. It’s probably some kind of hogweed, maybe hemlock but probably not

    Do not touch it

Most contain some level of phototoxin and can cause severe burns and life-long damage. Giant hogweed is by far they worst.

Please ignore anyone here saying it’s definitely X species – they’re just guessing

  5. Giant Hogweed is the one that’s known for burns but all of these types can cause skin irritation. I’d be cautious handling any of it. Some people also have a very bad reaction to cleavers (sticky-backs) I destroyed my arms one year pulling those up, I’d no idea some people could have a bad reaction to them.

  6. Literally the worst plant in Ireland you could touch. Lol hope you are alright. Its Hogweed it looks like the native version which is smaller and less toxic but could still fuck you up if you are unlucky. The giant version if this is invasive and can lead to life changing injuries and nerve damage. Nasty stuff. Stay clear.

  7. Hogweed, there was some growning in from the hedgerow at the bottom of my garden. I got blistered all up my arms, neck and one on my forehead from it. Have scars on the back of my hands months later because I kept popping them on my pockets.

    Careful pal.

  8. Download Google lens to your phone, it’s useful for plant ID, take a snap of what you want identified and it tries to find a match.
