Zero emission urban buses in Europe: who leads and who’s falling behind

  1. Trams>buses anyway. I know trams aren’t viable everywhere and everytime but if there is option I would always choose tram.

  2. Hope UK sees improvements soon, they are consulting on the end date for diesel busses between 2025 and 2032).

Traffic is our biggest pollution source of greenhouse gas (33%) Vs electricity that is now 20%.

Last year the government provided £3bn in funding for a new bus strategy (busses, infrastructure, lanes, fare reductions, simplifying fares). 2020 had a target of 4,000 electric or hydrogen busses this parliament. March had added 1,000 for £200m so on track at least.

They seem to be supporting hydrogen more as well, doubling production target and helping fund hydrogen battery factories.
