The gentleman in question is called Seán Ó hEinirí and lived in Cill Ghallagáin born 1915 and unfortunately passed in 1998. He is commonly thought to be the last native Irish speaker who never learned English. It is said he was a champion of the local culture and traditions.
I don’t understand how someone could grow up in 20th century Ireland and not understand English.
ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam. MI6 will never beat the Irish.
That’s awesome that they took the trouble to record the stories. Otherwise they’re likely to have been lost forever.
He became a stereo speaker a week later shame. Legend says he just makes the dolby noise reduction now
He was probably not the last monolingual speaker. There is no evidence to that claim
