“He said he has, at times, lived on cartons of pure vegetable juice, fresh orange juice and fruit”
Isn’t that more expensive than other food like pasta or bread?
Well, the North East is unfortunately about to find it’s going to get a lot worse for them.
>Errol Livingstone, who used to work in recruitment and as a NHS call handler, is currently claiming Universal Credit. The 57-year-old, who lives in central Gateshead, said he has been sanctioned for not attending a course about interview techniques.
>He claims he was under the impression that he didn’t have to attend due to his experience in recruitment and was later told he should have been there.
Never assume anything with the DWP. If they can find any excuse to fuck you over, they’ll use it.
The problem with these sensational quotes is people immediately pick into it like a detective on CSI, or you get the people teaching you how to live on broth for 6 days a week.
The summery simply needs to read “the only cost people can control is the food that keeps them alive” people will cut corners and survive on things that seem strange to people not in that position, He’s not refusing to use the oven, he’s thinking if i dont use it, it will be cheaper!
Why can’t he work?
I work 40 hours a week and have had to reduce to eating once a day. I’ll probably freeze to death come the winter.
It’s all part of the Tory ‘Hostile Environment’…he’ll be sanctioned into a low paid job shortly…
I literally know him, this guy is always out on the piss, and assaults bar staff when refused service, a real piece of shit. Can’t afford to put his oven on as he drinks most of his benefit money. He’s the architect of his own shitty life.
This fucks me off. Its so disgusting that a 57 year old former NHS worker cant afford a hot meal. What is even more disgusting is in a few hours his story will be forgotten to make way for another unfortunate soul to take the headlines for a similar situation. People will read it say ‘oh thats awful’ and nothing will be done. I wish I could help but damn I wouldnt know where to start but something has to be done!
Don’t believe that by the looks of him.
“Refusing to use his oven” because *he can’t afford gas*
Very poor phrasing there
Sunak thank you for your service
“Tory MP Suella Braverman says ‘too many rely on benefits’, yet claimed £159,000 in expenses last year.
As a fellow benefit dependent person my heart goes out to this poor man and any others suffering from these ridiculous slashes and such.
>I’ve turned the radiators off in the other rooms I don’t use. It’s not healthy to have a house with the heating off all the time, it’s going to get damp in time. You have to go into a bedroom which is freezing cold and your nose is blue.
I’m sorry, what?
The other day there was a woman claiming she spends £400 a week on shopping for a family of 3 but didn’t have enough food. Now we have someone claiming to be freezing in the hottest July on record?
Do they put this nonsense in these articles to check if people are reading them?
It doesn’t say he’s disabled, doesn’t say why he can’t get a job. There is rock-bottom unemployment and companies struggle to hold onto staff. And he’s a home owner.
I swear they pick these examples on purpose, like the extremely fat people choosing between heating and eating.
This is just beginning, and is going to get MUCH worse.
And the Tories ignored this for their leadership fight. Lower taxes and dumping people in Rwanda were more important issues to them.
Donate a bit to the food bank if you can.
They’re bastards. I was on UC for a bit. They would call and hang up immediate and then claim that I hadn’t answered the call and I would be sanctioned. They’re evil, evil, evil bastards.
✨Capitalism✨
I usually use a slow cooker (huge 9 litre one) for my freezer batched lentil soup but will start to maybe get the instant pot pressure cooker out (5-6 litres I think) as it’s a much faster process to the end result thus less electric but would have to 2-3 sessions for the same amount of soup. (Haven’t compared wattage of both devices though). No fancy spices needed either.. just lentils, onions, veg stock and seasoning but even the latter is not really needed. Sometimes will throw in some leeks and/or carrots.
Love the stuff!
Aren’t you glad we didn’t get Suella ‘Cruella’ Braverman as Prime Minister. She is all for these benefit cuts and would prefer that no one gets any benefits at all. Poor man, it’s tough living on benefits and you don’t need this sort of shit from power hungry DWP officials with the cost of living crisis.
Living off prunes and orange juice, I bet he doesn’t trust a fart.
Clearly he is getting too much and should have his claim reduced to nothing. /s Sadly, as snarky as this is, there are people who think this way.
I question the decision to live purely on juice as that can be costly but if it costs him more to cook then the basic meals then that’s shitty situation and one intended by DWP. That and DWP gives no fucks.
