She probably understands just fine but right now what we think is irrelevant, as like the other candidates, they need only appeal to their own membership at the minute
If you ask the average person what they think the annual DWP budget (200 billion+) goes on their going to say the dole, or disability, because its been ingrained into peoples psyche for years by tabloids and poverty porn.
The idea that aside from more than half of total claimants (12 million+) receive state pension, which in fact consumes over half of that annual budget goes over peoples heads, the same as the idea of most working age claimants for UC etc actually being in employment
Not to mention Unpaid carers who aside from getting fuck all themselves actually save the economy enough money to fund the NHS
She never has, because she never had to claim benefits and she lives in a bubble too…so she’s disconnected from other folks that actually go through it day to day.
