Nice one – I heard that episode but forgot to Google a picture of the folly.
Interesting structure. Thanks for sharing.
She did use it to meet up with her sister who lived four miles away in carton house. It was built halfway between castletown house and carton house (2 miles from each) so they’d meet up there for lunch.
I remember taking a detour to it on my morning run the week that episode came out. It’s well hidden until you get right up beside it due to all the trees and angle of the hilly road approaching it. It’s so much bigger than I expected, definitely triggered my r/megalophobia.
It’s better than letting them starve, but if she wanted to give the poor money to build something, surely it would have been better to have them build something that could be used by the people? Why a random building on her own land?
