  1. I also like to think that people who just think he is an arsehole are contributing to a big chunk of that loss rather than it being purely down to market conditions.

  2. This is insane. He makes a business, sells it to pension funds, makes millions for himself personally, uses it to share propaganda for Brexit to bake himself more money, screwing over the younger generations, and now people will lose their pensions.

And this practice will happen over and over again until full on economic collapse.

  3. This guy didn’t get how lucky he was.
EU students used to come to spend the summer in the UK, working just for self-sustaining but refining the language skills. Now he has problem recruiting. He should give them high skilled salary….

  4. I feel extremely sorry for anyone who is employed by Wetherspoons.

The rest of it including Tim Martin can wade into the sea and drown itself.

  5. Fucking good. I hope he goes out of business and all his 12 o clock sun reading punters have to drink a latte in starbucks surrounded by woke students and international baristas.

  6. And Tim Martin will bitch about it. He stiffed his suppliers during the first lockdown and does nothing but zero hour contracts, i think. He is reaping what he sowed.

  7. Ex spoons Pub manager of 10 years here. The straw that broke the camel’s back for me was putting out a special brexit edition of Spoons’ News out on each table not 5 minutes after I had to console a very, very hard working Polish lady who worked in my kitchen because she was worried about her future in the UK. I was also told I had to discipline a couple of Hungarian kitchen staff because they threw the boxes of that edition in the bin right off the delivery so they didn’t see the light of day. Nar mate, fuck that

  8. Unintended consequences THAT YOU WERE FUCKING WARNED ABOUT YOU ABSOLUTE PUBIC LICE OF A HUMAN BEING

  9. Recruitment difficulties? When my sister worked there she got hit by customers on most days and paid minimum wage, one woman threw a chair at her and they didn’t even kick her out

  10. I worked in for for over 3 years pandemic and all and I can say I’ve never been so happy after leaving, walking out those door was like a huge weight was lifted and my life has been better since. Fuck Wetherspoons they preach how fair they are but all I was got was spat at, threatened and talk to like shit.

  11. “Recruitment difficulties”
Is that code for struggling to replace all the staff they fired at the start of the pandemic? Like 90% that they just cut.

Not to mention the shady management in literally every Wetherspoons

  12. I’ve been to a Wetherspoons once as it was the only place open I could get some breakfast and I spent 1/2 an hour overhearing a conversation between the ‘angry bald men’ that was basically parroting every Daily Express/Mail headline like good little boys.
