Jeremy Hunt and Nadhim Zahawi out of the Conservative leadership race

  1. I really don’t want Rishi. How likely is it that he’s just gonna win, considering he’s had the most votes?

  2. I can’t believe [this woman](https://youtu.be/n_wkO4hk07o) is not only being considered, but is a favourite.
The way she delivers each crap line with a focused concentrating face, and then gurns with relief once she successfully said it as she awaits applause, before returning to the concentration for delivering the next zinger.
    It. Is. A. Dis. Grace.

  3. Anyone else feel like with the state of this field of candidates all that is missing from this charade is Dermot O’Leary and “the next candidate through to next week’s vote is…….”

  4. I think we need more debate about the fact we have slipped into a political system where the conservative party can pass the premiership around amongst themselves like a game of pass the parcel.

The government must fall, we should have a system which gives us an obligatory general election when a Prime minister is discredited or deposed.

  5. I don’t understand why people who were in Boris Johnson’s inner circle are allowed to be in the race. They not only enabled a corrupt and lawbreaking government to exist, they thrived in it, and defended it. Surely it would be in the Tory’s best interest to distance themselves from anyone who was heavily involved in Boris Johnson’s government?

  6. I love how they’re all taking one step back, because they know this will ruin their “career”.

  7. Personally I want Liz Truss to win. I want to see her, standing awkwardly with that rictus grin she favours, a look that screams “I don’t know what to do or say now”.

  8. What is the Tory excuse for a multi-round leadership contest for their party but their insistence for every election to be FPTP?

Obviously I know the reason is that FPTP benefits them greatly, but what are the dishonest rights’ excuses?

  9. At this stage we should hope for the worst candidate right?

Like its comparing tumours, a tumour is a tumour needs to fuck off either way or we die. Sure I might not cringe as much under Sunak than Truss but if he wins the next election were refusing to take chemo and die.

Like there’s no good thing here.

  10. Thought it was very odd of Nadim Zahawi to say he’d have Boris in his cabinet. A prime minister just ousted for his lies, who Zahawi told should resign. Other than Boris, I can’t fathom who he thought he’d impress with that idea. It certainly wouldn’t be Tory MPs, the ones who like Boris are probably backing Truss

  11. Not surprised really.

I just listened to Nadhim’s and Penny’s LBC interviews and Penny completely eclipsed him.

No crazy promises, no bullshit, minimal dancing around questions.

Didn’t seem to have a concrete policy answer to everything but at least sounded like she had her head screwed on.

  12. Is this contest really even a contest or is it 90% going to be Sunak and it always was?

At this stage Penny More-don’t seems do be doing well but the figures came from a YouGov poll AKA nowhere.

  13. I said that too many people were getting excited about Boris’s downfall, not looking at the bigger picture of who would replace him. I wasn’t wrong.
