I don’t actually think this is entirely absurd. The reason why their government is doing this is, but its pretty screwed up that Poland wasn’t given reparations with all that happened to them during the occupation.

Some people write that Poland should cede land to Germany if it demands reparations. Land swap between USSR and Poland which resulted in moving Poland to the west on the map happened between USSR and Poland. Germany was not part of this swap therefore argument that Poland should cede any land to Germany is not valid.

1.) There will be no legal option to get a judgement approving that on any court I can think of
2.) There’s no way a german government would open up that can of worms. Poland at least “theoretically” received reparatrions, that have been paid towards Russia (“which ensured collecting money for all eastern bloc nations….) and also signed the claims to be settled (even as a dcependant nation). If you accept Poland, Greece would immediately spring to life…with a much more valid claim.
3.) There’s no practical way to receive the proposed numbers (250-800bn) in any way, as it would either immediatley bankrupt Germany, or it would immediately make it a net receiver in the EU. It’s a 1-4 year national budget.
4.) There’s no reasonable way to convince any living German younger than 90 to pay it, while they pay for EU cohesion funds since decades.
6.) Every fringe politican would demand East Prussia back and refer any further discussions to Russia. (Which 99% of Germans do not want back)
