Why on earth would they got to the bother of naming a stretch of road and then not bother to use the naming convention that Ukraine insists on using? Have they even heard of CorrectUA? Just seems so damn lazy of them. Is this a francophone thing, as I see French media also using the russo form.

  2. The same reason we give every country or city different names in different languages. It’s Lëtzebuerg, not Luxembourg.

    I always thought it is stupid to change a cities or countries name to another language, but that’s how it is.

  3. I agree with the commenters about it being how Kyiv is Kiev in the French language. However, they could, out of respect for the heroic country, make an exception.
