Russia about to run out of steam in Ukraine – MI6 chief

  1. I’ll add this to the Russia-Only-Has-Two-Weeks-Supply-Of-Missiles file.

Remember everyone, when a spy agency makes a public “assessment” it’s a political communication rather than an intra-government communication. In terms of political communication, this is just the UK government trying to get the media to run with a story it wouldn’t likely do if the “assessment” was made by a run of the mill government department.

  2. “Around 400 Russian intelligence officers operating under cover have been expelled across Europe, he said, reducing Russia’s ability to spy in the continent by half.”

… people check my math, but anyone that implies that Russia had only 800 spies in Europe has lost credibility in my opinion.

  3. It’s worth noting that MI6/SIS has previously sent, on at least one occasion, agents to assassinate a Russian leader
