Malta has been a scam for years dear and I’m maltese.
totally – most of these photos were taken in winter, with a very narrow angle and colour boosted in post.
While I do agree that construction and over tourism have ruined some of those places, I cannot also not notice that we are looking at different perspectives, different angles and different time windows/seasons. In my opinion whoever created the image has a really negative view and/or agenda.
Pero, it would be a crappy ad agency indeed if they used the photos on the right….
I live in Balutta Bay and move around in St Julian’s and Sliema a lot, and I would be embarrassed calling it a tourist spot. So much trash every

I got ripped off by Kempinski hotel of all places, Malta has a lot of scams for tourists. I’d never recommend it for a holiday.

To be fair at least a couple of these pictures are just bad weather/bad angle. In the right time these places are really beautiful. Of course you have “perfect” conditions for the photos.
I’m Maltese. Having not been in 10 years. I have family who live there, I would say it has moved forward with the times it’s still beautiful the people are still true. Noticed a few changes from past which is what it is. Definitely wouldn’t rule it off any one visiting at all I stand proud being Maltese i missed it and liked it that much im heading back out there myself for a second holiday in less then a months first visit 👍🏽 I don’t follow politics. Of course the money 💶 from original Local currency is not as worthy as it used to be but what the heck.
Oh one thing I will agree on unfortunately comino is beautiful but yes far to packed with people which was disappointing.

Third picture down on the left has an amazing restaurant off to the right. Some aussie/Maltese crossover and the food was great!….I wouldn’t say scam though, the dock very much looked like that when we were there only 2 month ago.
I loved visiting last Nov 2021, had some good hotel and airbn deals cus pandemic pricing and low tourism, weather was cooler and ocean was not as perfect as summertime, but i loved Valletta and Xlendi. BUT, it was slighty upsetting to see so many cranes everywhere: hey can’t build hotels and condos fast enough all over, especially in Xlendi. just blocking the view.
Have you seen how the points of interest in the rest of Europe are depicted? Greece, Italy, Spain…etc. Same thing. They’re depicted in the “best” condition devoid of tourists or humans alike. Also, the photos (as other users have posted) don’t show the exact angles, light/weather conditions…etc.
But yes, tourists are always given the best perspective of any site.
The government not only allows the destruction of anything beautiful on this island, they facilitate it.
