Im getting an RSA ad on twitter lately about Drug Driving, and apparently the meter thingy doesn’t say how much weed is in your system, just that it’s present, so you get arrested and charged.
Thing is, i take half a joint at night to help me sleep, alleviate anxiety, reduce migraines and other MS symptoms. I RARELY have it during the day and would only do so if i was really sick/exhausted and know i’m not heading out again for any reason that day (and am not working that day, obviously).
So if i get pulled over and swabbed at 8pm Friday night, am i going to be arrested and charged for my 10pm Thursday sleepytime smoke, treated exactly the same as some dickhead who smokes all day errrrday and rolled a fresh one and smoked it at 7.55pm Friday??

I support legalisation, but the border does make a difference.
Isn’t the whole point of the NI protocol to keep trade as open on the island as possible, so that no border checks and no border checkpoints are required? Legalisation in Ireland without the UK seems like it’d be just as disruptive as scrapping the protocol in that regard.
Of course, the ideal situation would be legalisation in both countries at once, but i don’t think you can blame the Irish government for being a little chary about unilateralism here.
Maybe Malta will follow ireland on abortion.
