EU gives Hungary a month to act before moving to suspend funds

  1. “The European Commission gave Hungary a final month to address its concerns about the rule of law before asking European Union governments to suspend some of the funds Hungary is to get under the bloc’s 2021-2027 budget.”

While I appreciate the fact that EU finally is acting on the problem of Hungary, 30 days sounds a little too much given Orban’s nasty behaviour.

  2. EUSSR. And make no mistake, they’re sanctioning Hungary because it’s not politically aligned to the liberal left. This is against European law, people are cheering here, but the rule of law has been suspended. This is what Putler does at home. This is what the judiciary does in Italy.

Today you cheer because they’re targeting your enemy, but tomorrow it could be you. That’s why it’s important to make sure that the institutions are independent of political crap, which is precisely the opposite.

France has been violating the Maastricht deficit rule for years on end, Spain as well. Never been sanctioned. Italy on the other end, except the current problem with COVID which made everyone exceed the limit, has never violated it. Been sanctioned for ridiculous reasons all the time.

France behaves like it can do everything. The European institutions are losing every credibility there is. Before cheering for Hungary, you better ask yourselves, trying to remain objective, if you really think Brussels is being fair.

The other charade, and demonstration of ignorance , was the people condemning the roe vs something in the US ( which does NOT remove the right to abortion, it delegates the states, and it was an obvious decision given the US Constitution). I’ll cut here, it’s too long otherwise.

Edit: I want to add some context on the roe vs something. I’m very much pro choice, pro euthanasia, pro gay marriage pro everything related to the personal freedoms. I believe that the US states that want to ban abortion are idiotic, and I think (I hope) they’re gonna lose heaps of voters. In fact the US still has some of the most permissive laws regarding abortion on the whole world, and much more permissive than Europe, where in Germany it’s still technically illegal.

  3. Please just do it soon.
