  1. God, I wasted so much of those on the slotsmachine of my local youth pub. If I won I always bought a meter of booze fornme and my friends.

Around 500BFR would be a meter beer and if I had 1000BFR I did a meter of vodka redbull.

Good times ! (cant wait till they invent time traveling)

  2. I remember they had that weird teeth pattern all around it. While the 20 franc had tiny holes all around it

  3. Back then you’d have a full day worth of kermis with it.

Now 1.25eur will not even get you a drink

  4. In today’s “I’m old” thought…. it just occurred to me that the frank was phased out 20 years ago, so there must be loads of people on here that have never used this currency.

  5. I remember getting one of these bad boys after working a whole day in the garden. I felt like the richest kid of the neighbourhood.

  6. As a kid these were my favorites too. Especially the shiny ones that seemed to come straight from the muntenfabriek

  7. Each taste to their own. I would not even pay 0,50 EURO cent.

Still have allot of older (Belgium) coins.

50cent and you where queen of the local neighborhood store.

    So many candy options!

  8. Prachtige munt in het zilver, gerafeld aan de zijkanten

Daar kocht ik mijn worstenbroodjes mee!

Wat nu toch al gauw 1,75-1.80€ is

  9. Ah, the best of all coins. A little bit smaller, yet thicker than 20BEF or 5BEF, in a beautiful silver sheen, rubbed on the outside, modernistic design on the back, and it genuinely felt like it was a lot of money.

We used to save these in a Schnapps glass, nine could fit in one, the diameter was precisely fitted for one coin.

  10. Wasn’t it so pretty that people kept them instead of spending so there weren’t enough in circulation?

  11. I prefer the gold colored 5 f, the silver is too plain for me. You should give it a good polish though, it will be even nicer.

  12. Remember the time you could get 3 breads at the bakery and bought 5 candy at 1F with this in your pocket.

    It’s was in the 80’s
