UK supermarkets could still be buying meat linked to deforestation in Brazil, report suggests | Environment

  1. If you’re buying industrially produced meat then it’s all linked to deforestation, all that soy being grown where the Amazon used to be isn’t being made into tofu it’s being used as animal feed for British and western chickens.

  2. How capable are supermarkets of tracking their supply chains? Presumably they’re buying British reared meat, which is fed commercially sold feed, and the farmers will be buying it from the cheapest possible place given the squeeze they have on their prices literally everywhere else.

This *shouldn’t* be news, and it should probably be blown up for everyone to see the real impact of the meat they eat. As a country/planet, we eat WAY too much of it.
