I’m planning some travelling in Nuremberg and when I try to figure out the route on [bahn.de](https://bahn.de), the prices for the route shows as “VGN-Tariff” instead of 9euro as other routes when you put in only local train. I only found this [article](https://www.nn.de/bayern/nach-dem-9-euro-ticket-wie-teuer-wird-der-nahverkehr-in-nurnberg-1.12198095), but it says nothing about what this is.
Is VGN separate from DB and I have to purchase separate tickets for this operator?

Yes VGN is seperate from DB but the 9€ ticket is still valid.
