Hello, i am visitor from r/Slovakia where i shared a similar article and asked if they are aware of the revisionist/russian/communist version of invasion of Czechoslovakia. Many of the comments were wonderful. Do you have any stories and opinions you would want to share about communism regime in LT?

  1. I am new to reddit so i am not sure if sharing the screenshot of the post was the best way to go, but double crossposting seems to be impossible.

Have you met/talked to someone who was believer of the revisionist version of your history ? Any interesting stories from time of comunism and before are welcome as i love to hear these kinds of stories.

Have you ever heard the revisionist version of invasion of Czechoslovakia ? Soldiers invading Czechoslovakia were often sure that they would be fighting western soldiers or Czechoslovaks armed by Americans.

EDIT: the post is from r/EuropeanSocialists

  2. I wouldn’t call it as a revisionism, there is a better term in academia regarding this “selective omission”. You cherry pick events from history to justify your political and or ideological narrative.

We have seen a lot of this from Russia. One example is: “Savi šaudė į savus” you can Google it up. Funny thing is, Russia used the same strategy for Maidan in Ukraine.

  3. Someone mentioned “Savi šaudė į savus” narrative that’s been debunked million times, person that spread those lies got jailed for working with Russian goverment (there was proof) and he was pretty much the only one that talked about the narrative.

The other followers of the guy was often going to Belarus to bring back the “sun of Belarus”. Or what ever they meant.

Every witness spoke about the January 13 event the same as in original story. Many of our parents stood defending the TV tower in Vilnius so the fake story blew over. Loud minority loves to talk about it still, but they often get ignored.
