Good evening everyone,

I was on Vero’s page and I read the details regarding the taxation of crypto. However, couldn’t find an answer on the matter below.

When volunteering in a crypto community, one might receive crypto coin or token of that community as per their affords on monthly basis. There is no work relationship, no contract or anything.

I believe this falls under **2.6.4 Income tax payable on inherited or gifted virtual currency**
[https://www.vero.fi/en/detailed-guidance/guidance/48411/taxation-of-virtual-currencies3/#2.6-notes-on-special-circumstances-relating-to-virtual-currencies](https://www.vero.fi/en/detailed-guidance/guidance/48411/taxation-of-virtual-currencies3/#2.6-notes-on-special-circumstances-relating-to-virtual-currencies)

So, if you don’t know how much the donor paid in the first place as it is their coin. How to calculate the acquisition cost and how to report this in FIFO Laskuri, what to write in source part etc. And, as far as I understood, you only pay taxes when or if you exchange them.

Could someone shed more light on this as per your experience?

Thank you.

  1. You can always call them and ask. Might be a bit harder to get service in english, but should not be a problem. I’ve called them a couple of times and have always gotten really good service and things sorted out in just the one call.
