Hi there,
basically the question is above. Before Corona hit we would come to Norway to go trekking and wild camping and enjoy your beautiful landscape for 10 – 20 days every year. We always came by plane to Bergen or Oslo and then went to our final hiking destination by metro/bus/train.
Now this year is the first year we come to Norway with our car (because we got a dog and he’s coming with us) and even if I have been to Norway every single fucking year since 2013 I have not spent any attention towards car parking rules, possibilities and prices when you want to go hiking.
I assume lots of people who go into the forest for a week or two will get to the trailhead by car because there are people who carry a shitload of fishing gear etc. so there has to be a possibility to park. But is there a way to find out where exactly the parking spots are, how long you’re allowed to park and how much money it will cost at the specific parking? We have one physical hiking map for the Nordmarka area and there I can see the small blue and white parking symbol at some of the trailheads. That’s what I look for online plus additional info on the parking conditions (max. consecutive days) and prices.
We usually plan our route with [ut.no](https://ut.no) bute even if there is an option for parking I don’t really get results as in marked spots on the map. My norwegian is good enough to read and understand most things so norwegian ressources are no problem.
Thank you very much!

Most parking at trailheads are free and you can stay there for as long as you like. If there is restrictions there wil be signs at the parking spot.
I assume you rent a car as you fly in? While most likely boring for the number x tourist coming to Norway would be to be told to read the parking regulations in the area where you intend to hike from. A good number of roads leading into the mountains and such are regulated by fees, that go towards maintenance of the roads and whatnot. If regulated by fees or other payments there are often several choices when it comes to the amount of time you intend to stay for.
As mentioned by another poster, regulations will be posted in plain sight, these will contain rules for the types of vehicles allowed on said road( mostly due to bridges with a limited carrying capacity.) There are also limitations on camper vans and the like, mainly due to the road owners not wanting an impromptu camping site appearing on the trail parking space.
Rules differ from place to place, it depends if the parking is public or privately owned. Try using Google street view to see what the parking sign says.
