Travel chaos is ‘the new normal’ after Brexit, British tourists are warned – Anger over lack of cash for Dover upgrade as Tory candidates vie to blame France for delays

  1. To be honest for the Tories it’s a win-win I feel. If things are working it’s “see project fear was all wrong” if things are not it’s “all someone elses fault” – When you have a population that’s so reciprocal and willing to accept their lies it doesn’t really matter what the truth is…

  2. Odd that there are no queues in Calais or Cherbourg…

    Or Poole, or Portsmouth

If only Dover port had like 5 years to prepare.

  3. Dover also didn’t do itself any favours by voting in Natalie Elphicke.

‘Hey, that woman who defended the previous sex pest tooth and nail. Maybe she won’t be an absolute disaster’

  4. The truth doesn’t matter. In fact, it stopped mattering a log time ago.

They can just blame it of France so that brexiters can endlessly repeat the same soundbite

  5. If only there was a way we could have known that Brexit would only cause issues, make us weaker economically, culturally, and also reduce our security.

    But alas, here we are.

  6. Scenario 1: waving people through.

Scenario 2: passport checks on hard border.

Astonishing how much ideology, disinformation, cognitive dissonance-driven piffle have been said, written, shouted about the elementary and blindingly obvious implication of (2) vs (1). Something that was stated countless times before & during the Referendum campaign, needing only the IQ of a 4-year-old child, yet labeled as “project fear”.

Here we are, 6 years after Brexit, and it is just tragicomic to see the continued psychiatrically significant level of denial.

  7. > Former chancellor Rishi Sunak said the French “need to stop blaming Brexit and start getting the staff required to match demand”.

Why is the UK’s choice to leave the EU and create a hard border France’s problem? If the UK wants more border staff, perhaps we need to consider paying France for the extra staff needed to meet demand?

Maybe this could be a levy on all tickets and split out into a separate line as a “Brexit Tax”?

  8. If only loads of experts had repeatedly warned us of the many of the downsides of Brexit before we went to the polls.

  9. I don’t get it.

Why is it any different to visiting any other country in the world that’s not part of the EU?
